Chippychap - have you sorted the problem yet? I've just seen a post on gpsreview where someone changed their cable a couple of months back and the unit (quite a modern one, but not a Garmin) worked ok until recently but now has developed severe problems.

It might be complete coincidence of course but ... take care, if you are still thinking about it I guess.

You can use data cable. There are different types of data cables are available on internet with all information . It depends on your GPS type which type do you use?. Such as Nuvi 360 GPS, Nuvi 360 310 GPS, Nuvi 370 GPS. etc.

Thank you for that.
I assumed data cables, USB to little trapezium shaped plugs, were like scarts, configured differently according to use.
I've seen 'em on fleabay for a couple of quid but, if recent reports are accurate and Garmin are having issues with downloading, I'll get a Nuvi one for a fiver.
I'm just assuming problems down the road and wish to deflect accusations of me using wrong cable.
Halfords didn't end up with my money. I asked about fitting of a headlamp bulb and he said "I've not had me dinner yet" if hecan't handle a bulb he ain't getting the commission for a sat nav.
It's less hassle to buy a s#dding A to Z. Laughing
Upshot is that I have a shed-load of data cables but I'll get the Nuvi one.
Thank you.
