|
|
Hi, When I am using the pocket gps database on my TT720 the computer voice ( Kate ) doesnt announce the speed camera type properly .She either spells it out or it sounds like gobbledegook on certain announcements.
Is this a common fault ?? or do I have a faulty unit ?? It works fine on my Drivesmart.any helpful comments would be appreciated, regards Johnbull |

After selecting the distance you want the warning to occur at you will be presented with a screen containing four options, you need to select "Type in your own warning" then enter the text you want the device to read out - if this produces strange sounding words can you be more secific as to what you have typed and which words don't sound right - Mike |

or rename the .ov2 and .bmp files.
eg
20mph_gatso.ov2
20mph_gatso.bmp
20mph_gatso_X2.bmp
I use a batch file to do this

The last time I looked Kate was no longer available for download from Home. Perhaps she needed fixing? |

Guivre46.... I downloaded Kate only the other day. It's one of the foibles of 'Home' that if you have a voice on the machine already, or stored on your PC, then it won't be offered for download.
If you wanted a fresh copy, you would have to delete it off the Go and hide it somewhere on the PC where Home can't find it!
But I think that's not the issue in this case.
Johnbull..... There are several ways to get voice announcements of POIs (and particularly speed cams), and it sounds like you chose one of the options which use the NAME of the POI category for what is read out. The PocketGPSWorld files were not named with that in mind - it's no wonder the TTS makes a hash of it when the words and initials of 'PocketGPSWorld' are all run together.
So your choices are to:
a) rename the files as AndyV suggests, although I'm not sure how well the TTS voice would cope with "20mph" so you might well have to ex periment with different names to get the best sound, or:
b) Use the "type your own warning that Mike suggests (and again experiment to get the best rendition, or:
c) use one of the re-recorded voice packs that we have for download on this site. |

Copy all of the text into a new notepad file and then save it as files of all types and call it rename.bat
Put this file in the same folder as your camera poi's on your pc
Double click the batch file to run it - this will rename the files. Now copy them to your TT
If you PM me your email address I will email you the batch file in a zip to save you the hassle |
