|
|
I am thinking of purchasing a USA map on SD card for my 530 to use on my upcoming trip to Florida.
There seem to be several used ones on ebay slighty cheaper than new ones from Tomtom.
Would these have been registered and locked to a particular device if the previous use had connected to tomtom home or updated their device with the card inserted in their tomtom.
Also i have 2 years of free map updates on my account from when i bought my device. Even though 530 my unit only has uk maps on it the upgrade voucher seemed to indicate free updates no matter how many contries installed on the device. If i insert the sd card will it update the usa maps and if so will it update the files on the sd card and render it locked and registered to my unit. If so would this prevent me selling the card on to use in someone elses device after returning from my trip. |

Buy a blank SD card and then buy the map from the TOMTOM website.
It's the only way to make sure you have a legal copy and get it registered correctly to your individual unit. |

Are "local" maps still available ?
I am going to Florida and only want maps of Florida and not the whole USA, so a more local map would be great but I cannot see them listed.

No, maps of single States are not available. Even regional maps seem no longer to be available, either. _________________ David |
