Hi
Been trying to download some poi's onto my 4gb sdhc card with my card reader,I went to the download page and among others downloaded public toilet file when I unzip the file it shows a BMP file & a Tyre file for public toilet. I then copy & paste to the W-Europe map, then after putting the card back in my TT720 I look for it in poi's it say's nothing found.
Is this Tyre file wrong as I dont recall it being that kind of file when I last used the TT about a year ago.

The POI files need to be:

a .ov2 this is the data
a .bmp which is the icon

Have you got more than one map loaded to the unit as its quite easy to put POI files in the other map folder by accident - Mike

For the TT there should be 2 files.
A .bmp for the icon and .ov2 for all the different locations.

I have just downloaded the toilet file and that's what I've got.

Have you tried downloading again, see what happens.
It may be the file is being corrupted when you are copying across somehow.

I don't use tyre so not able to say if that programme is messing things for some reason.

Hi looks like something wrong !!
Have a 720 put the latest w/e map on the device then using windows copied everything onto a 4gb card. So when I update I put the card in a card reader and do it that way.Looking at the w/eur map folder even the latest speed camera files are a Tyre file & a BMP icon file.

When you say its a "Tyre" file thats just the PC associating that type of file as one to open with Tyre, I doubt there is anything wrong with it - can you see the file extension and is it .ov2 (Note you might have to turn on show file type in folder preferences depending upon your computers OS - Secondly how many custom POI categories have you got installed to the device as there is a limit, its either 169 or 255, I think the 720 has the higher limit but not 100% - Mike

Hi Mike
After last post I uninstalled Tyre, cleaned my files and registry, then downloaded a poi but it still came up as Tyre, by that I mean a BMP icon and a tyre icon.As for poi categories not sure but that many.

Although the device defaults to the memory card for the software if available, would having the same map available on both card and internal memory be confusing it. Are you sure you have the correct map selected?

Hi,
I think it's sorted!!!!!!!
Went on one of my backup's pressed on a few things and the Tyre icons changed to ov2's.Then did the same with the card and thay changed. So downloaded the public toilet Poi and it came as a ov2 file and now works on my divice.
Problem is I don't know how I did it but it works.
Thanks Mike & 253 for your replies.

As I suggested in your other thread about whether to put the maps on the device or a card:

Quote:
As the same name will probably be displayed for both maps you might like to follow the instructions here to change the names of your maps so you know which is on the device and which is on the card.

But if you're happy with the map on the card there's no need to keep it on the device too, so why not delete it, after backing up the device to your computer, using Explorer for both procedures?

Hi Anita,
Yes I think I could do that, I the full setup backed up on the computer drive C/ and drive D/ also on a spare 4gb card and a external drive, so I think I'am covered.
As you advised on the other thread, today I put the card in the reader and up poped home and updated so I know that works.
So if I delete of the divice do I just delete the W/Eur map or the whole lot,and dose the divice stay empty.

It's up to you, Alan. If the card has an application on it the device will boot from the card and not use the app on the device, but it does no harm it being there.
