Still no good.
However, I notice that the two successes mentioned have both had the GPS appear on COM4. Wonder if this is related. Anybody had any success with GPS on any port other than COM4?

Does the 4 in the command line correspond to com port ?, the b parameter looks like baud rate.
SirFFlashcl A:\FortunaXTracV202.s -l 4 -b 38400 -c 0 -sr > ConsFile
If so I expect mine would have a 6 in it for Com 6 but I can't try it till I get home. |

Hacking the runexe batch file doesn't work for me either. Following all steps as described. Guess I'll have to wait on the official version to get it to work.
I did notice something interesting:
1)Running the edited runexe.bat just after running btclipon app, it took longer to error out, and in fact I thought it was working - but it didn't.
2)Some sort of state is attained so that I have to switch to ST and back to XT to get it to work ok. I now do this between runexe.bat attempts and I got similar behavior as in 1 above (the day before I was getting quick error outs). |

francesco - trey gpstweak from the downloads section here on this site. There's also several other threads along this topic in this forum. I am heading to italy in sept for a couple of weeks - that's why I bought the clip-on.
jlw - unplug your battery from the clip-on over night and that's your best chance of clearing the device if it's a state issue. I hope you didn't foobar your XT firmware! |

Fortuna have posted new files on the support page. :P
However, for me it still gives the FAIL Target not responding errors.
It looks as though all they have done is change it so the resulting RunExe.bat script is in the format discussed above.

I just tried again on a different PC and with different BT dongle, and having made sure I took the battery out for a good 10 minutes first.
Result.......SUCCESS!!!

Tried the new software, left the battery out for 10 minutes, but still get fail.
It did seem to take longer to fail this time (about 30 seconds instead of 5 seconds). |

I'm very impressed with the firmware update. The sensitivity of this thing has just gone through the roof! I can pick up 7 satellites from inside the house no problem, not that I need to navigate in the house .
I also tried to use GPS Tweak but could not get any readings.
A highly recommended firmware update.

I did update with success also, with the new Flashing prog from Fortuna (Looks like the firmware itself is the same than the previous one posted early this week)
To check if the update is Ok you can use also Crux View for Windows
I found it here
http://www.gpsoz.com.au/bluetooth_crux_pc.htm
"Open" the port to your GPS. Then you must press "Reset" to cold reset it (logical isn't it ?) and very quickly go to the "message" tab and press "Stop" so it stops the message at the just beginning. It should show something like:
$PSRFTXT,Version: 2.4.13.01-XTrac2.0.2-C3EVAL1.0*05
$PSRFTXT,TOW: 0*25
$PSRFTXT,WK: 1265*65
$PSRFTXT,POS: 6378137 0 0*2A
$PSRFTXT,CLK: 96250*25
$PSRFTXT,CHNL: 12*73
$PSRFTXT,Baud rate: 38400 System clock: 24.553MHz*45
Confirming that the firmware is 2.0.2 now !
Good luck to all |

Does anyone know what application I can use to view the firmware version?
I've tried the apps above but they just show the gps data and not any internal information.
Thanks. |
