When I switched from my 510 to a 530 one of the changes I really liked was that I no longer needed to dock the device to power it or connect it to my PC. I was thinking about getting a new 950 - until I heard that TT had gone back to using a dock for power/comms. Is this correct? What about the 940 - is that the same?

It was a real pain having to find the dock before I could connect my 510. But, with the 530 all I need is a normal USB cable - and I've a few of them around.

Or you can buy a dedicated cable that connects from the Go to the USB port.

Cable

Yeah, but I don't want to have to dig out a separate cable. I'll put up with that for something really good - like the iPod. But it's enough to make me stick with the 530 rather than upgrade.

My dock sits at the back of my desk and is always plugged in to the PC so it's ready to us. Same with my iPod cable.

I find the dock far easier and safer than a cable and very rarely use a usb cable direct to the 530. I also find a dock easier to find than a piece of wire.

I used to use a cable direct to my PDA and after a while the strain on the USB socket from the cable damaged it, at least the dock supports the device.

The supplied mount for the x40/x50 also takes a mini usb cable.
