Are the Canary Islands on the 255W? If not where does anyone know where I can get a map of all the Canary islands for the 255W?

I haven't tried them, but you could download these and see if they work on your unit.

Rename it gmapsupp.img and copy to your SD card, in the Garmin folder alongside the POI folder (if any).

Thanks Dales for that. I`ve managed to put Fuerteventura onto the SD card and checked some addresses which it has recognised. I`m out again in late October and will try it out on the ground. One thing as I put the Fuerteventura map with the name you suggested do I put Lanzarotte as a seperate folder? If so what name should I call it?

Again, I haven't tried it, but see this post for what looks to be a very useful link from Gatorguy.

I'll be checking it myself shortly - it's just what I was wanting to know myself!

The Canary Islands are on the standard Western Europe map. At least they are for the 765 map. I can even navigate there from the UK. They appear on MapSource as well.
I haven't used it there yet because I had a TomTom last time I went. The TeleAtlas map was very unreliable in Gran Canaria - it tried to drive me over a cliff Exclamation . The Navteq one looks much better.

If you've got MapSource, you should be able to combine the two downloaded maps into one. Create a mapset by selecting each map in turn with the map tool, then transfer it to the satnav.

Dales.

PS: hgm is right. The Canaries are on my 255WT.

It's under Spain for country and not Canaries or individual islands. I f you choose Spain as country, it will find cities in the Canaries.
