One a day, from each of us, should do the trick
They've had our money, so we might as well get them to do SOME work for it _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I do not like the way garmin never give you a straight answer. I think they should sort there communication problems out, or they will loose customers. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 3790T Firmware 4.30

They all answer this way. I had the same experience with viaMichelin and Navigon. All ends up in a black hole and you never hear about it again

Makes sense in a way that this is happening. Just imagine yourselves to be on the position of these guys working for garmin and pick up the phone all day. They got to answer to angry customers all day that they are full of questions about dates etc.
while in reality they have no power to know, as their bosses/superiorsis likely to not know either as they will have to answer to a superior etc....
So they obviously train them to answer in a way to put you into a black hole or loophole so they can answer your question while they are not giving you any real information or facts.
If you understand what I mean.
This definately not just Garmin but every multinational company!

I contacted Garmin to ask when the European Update would be released as the U.S. 2010.20 has been out for a few weeks. I also asked why Europe was 'lagging behind'.
Their reply is below:

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
I apologise for the delay in response, but I will be happy to assist
with your enquiry. Navteq have informed us that the next update will be
due within the next couple of months, although we do not have the exact
date for thsi at the moment. It is not a case of Europe lagging behind
as these are completely different mapsets so although it appears that
the US have more up to date maps this is simply just the name of the
mapset itself and as the US were already Seemingly a map version ahead
anyway you will probably find that the data would have been obtained at
a similar as the data we are currently using for the European update
If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know.
Alternatively you can search for a solution here: http://www.garmin.com/support
Thus it would appear that the European 2010.20 update is not about to appear yet!

Its all a load of rubbish - not hitting out at the guys and gals at Garmin Support who tell us this rubbish, but the people who tell them to tell us it!
Surely a straight answer - positive or negative - is the best policy?
I run the Sales and Marketing of a medium size company, and would always try to tell the facts, whatever they may be. Good or bad. That's the only way customers come to trust your organisation and return again and again
As for the map data set - Navigon have just released the Navteq data Garmin seem to be saying isn't yet released by Navteq. What a load of ****
Either they don't have the people to deliver the content, or won't spend the money. Either way we are not getting what we paid for _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

It least this reply is the most elaborate smoke and mirrors pile of **** so far. I will email them too, so what completely conflicting nonsense I get.
" Then next European update should be released in the next
couple of months, unfortunately I so not have a solid release date I'm
afraid".
Thats no true!!!!
Navteq is already one update forward than garmin 2010.11 and I can prove that!
Just go to the official navteq website and have a look on the map reporter. I have personally spotted that my home town in Greece, Gythio on the navteq map reporter it shows the street names and a few extra roads, while the garmin 2010.11 doesnt!!
Im sure you might be able to spot more diferences than that.
I have noticed that they updated their map reporter preview map about 1 month ago

"Either way we are not getting what we paid for".
While I am also eagerly awaiting Europe 2010.2 or whatever it will be called, the statment above is plain wrong. What you paid for, if you read the conditions, is 'up to' 4 updates a year for the life of your unit. That could mean 0,1,2,3 or 4 updates. We're still far better off then the yearly updates we were subjected to before 2008. I've had 2 so far in 2009.

It is simply not right you say "if you read the terms..." - it was clearly INFERRED that there would be 4 "quarterly" updates (that is what quarterly means, yeah?)
What is more that is exactly what they have delivered to US owners
They are taking us for mugs
The simple fact is they suggest that providing Navteq release an update, we will get it. They did, we didn't
What is more they simply won't tell the truth about the matter - which infuriates us all even more. If they said "hey, Europe doesn't matter to us as much as America, so we're going to skip this release" then at least we could respect their honesty and know our position. Thats what they are doing, they just won't admit to it
No more of my pounds will go to Garmin
I'll spend my money with Navigon who deliver the goods - for less too _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Actually from the UK site if you continue and add the item.
'To use nüMaps Lifetime, all you need is your Garmin device, your computer and a USB cable. There are no monthly fees or continuing maintenance costs; you pay only once per Garmin GPS. When you want to update your maps, connect your device to your computer and log into your myGarmin account, where the latest map data is ready to load to your individual device. We’re constantly gathering new map data, and a new update is available up to four times per year. Sign up for our email notification, and we’ll email you when the newest data is available.'
Actually I completely agree that an update should now be available and I am p****d off it isn't as I depend on it for my job, but it was very clear to me when I bought lifetime that there was no guarantee of 4 a year.
