|
|
I'd like to transfer some of the warning sound files from the Backup of my now defunct TT910 to my new TT740.
Is this is possible ?
If it is, in which folder of the TT910 backup are the warning sounds stored and what are the file names I should be looking for ?
Thanks |

What type of sounds were you looking to transfer across?
The beeps/ bongs bells etc are all stored in the data.chk file which resides in the root of the device, this is specific to the device and Navcore release installed to the device and cannot be ported to another device. It is possible to disect this file using a Hex editor but its a lot of work for little gain.
OGG audio files which are often used for POI spoken alerts, they reside in the Western_and_Central_Europe map folder and will have a file extension of .ogg the file name will be same as that used for the POI the ogg file is matched to. Simply copy these to the Western_Europe map folder on your new toy along with the .ov2 and .bmp file of the same name.
If you were using the Text To Speech system on the 910 to generate spoken alerts then I am afraid there is nothing that can be done to transfer those settings. They live in the MapSettings.cfg file which is stored in the coresponding map folder but the differences between map versions and device mean this won't port to the new hardware. You will have to select a computer voice and type in your warning messages for each POI.
If you were thinking about any other sounds then which ones? as I think the above should cover most of the audio warnings from a 910/ 740 - Mike |

Hi RDS,
What warning sounds do you wish to transfer? Original sounds from TT or ones you have installed yourself?
Regards.

I was looking to transfer one of the original TT910 warning sounds that was on the device when first purchased
The TT740 doesn't have the particular warning sound I've become used to over the past few years.
I can't remember its name and as my TT910 has died I've no way of finding out what it was called but it was a more softer chime or bong than is found on the TT740. |

Was it the sound similar to that you hear before an announcement in an aircraft? I think it was known as Polite 1 or Polite 2, if so this sound is part of the data.chk file and not too easy to split out but I think Andy_P might have this sound as an OGG file so it might be worth sending him a PM with your e-mail address then he can send it to you - Mike |

Yes I do have all the original sound effects and have saved the three original "Polite" sound effects as .ogg files.
If anyone else wants a copy of them, drop me a PM with your email address and I'll get them off to you. |

Thanks to Andy_P and the advice from others I now have the warning sound I was after.
If anyone else is interested the particular soft chime I was wanting to transfer from my TT910 is 'Polite O2' and is included in the OGG files emailed by Andy_P. |

That's the one I use... it's also on the front of the "Simon" voice alerts for the camera database I made.
Get them HERE |
