Map updates

Hi All,

I hope this is the right forum to post this in.

I have a pretty basic question with regards to maps. TomTom have just emailed me (and I'm sure lots of other people too) saying that they're discounting their maps at the moment (25% off).

Is there a good strategic point to upgrade maps? I.e. do they release large major upgrades at certain points in the year, or do they just trickle the updates all the time?

I have a 720 by the way.

The latest map was released about the 27th of May, give or take a couple of days. If TT keeps to its release plan of a new one every 3 months (again, give or take a day or so...), an expected new map will be at the end of August.

Also, once you have the latest map, you can sign up for a years worth of upates at a much cheaper price. It cost me £40 for my 740 which is £10 a map. However you do need the latest map first.

If you are interested in the regular map update service, check what price you are offered to upgrade to the latest map when you subscribe to the map update service in Home. You get a discount depending on the age of your existing map to upgrade to the latest map to start the service and this could be cheaper than the map less 25% in the map shop. If you map is old, this could be more expensive, so buy a map then subscribing may be cheaper.
