To get round ALL these problems, use the "method 2" described on the same download page, where you place all the sound files in the "sounds" folder on the device rather than the map folder. They are then all available to choose (and listen to!) on the normal "sound effects" page.

This is actually TomTom's preferred method, but the admin of this site decided to continue to recommend the "easier" other method (a few less button presses if it works!).

The only 'niggle' is that the rather long names of the sound files are too long to show the important bit on the selection screen, so you either have to guess which one to start with (at least you can now hear them before you choose, and they should then be in order of speed and type) or you can rename them to put the speed and type BEFORE the "PGPSW" bit of the name before you add them to the Go.

Using this method, the names do NOT have to match the data file's name.

Thanks Andy

Is it Ok for me to leave the .ogg files in the map folder.

Can I use a naming convention such as

gatso30uk
gatso90uk

etc

gatsoeur30

Is that short enough to show as a name??

Many thanks for your help

Tony

Yes you can leave them in the map folder (if you have enough room for them to be on there twice), but there's not much point if it works the other way.

Yes, you can name them whatever you like. Your names will be perfect...(except there won't be a Gatso90 for the UK! Laughing )

Seems to have worked fine for the UK. One problem is that I mistakenly chose to remove the alert for uk gats 20 and can't find a way of getting it back. It's listed as a POI but when I try to set uo the alert it's not in the list

Thanks for your help

Are you looking far enough DOWN the list?
All the POI categories you have already set up alerts for are shown first, then all the rest are shown alphabetically.

I'm a camera verifier so the files I get (in order to visit and check new locations) include the places in the pMobile files, so indirectly, yes, I do have warnings for them.

Depending what voice set you choose, you may or may not have separate voice files for the pmobiles.

If not, but you want to have alerts for them I think there is ONE separate set for them on the voices page, or alternatively you can just assign the same files as you used for the ordinary mobiles. (That's another advantage of "method 2". With "method 1" you would have had to physically copy the files and rename the copies).
