|
|
First of all i'm a newbie at this so please be gentle, also I dont know if i've posted this on the correct forum.
I have subscribed to PGPSW camera alerts and downloaded them to my nuvi 360 and disabled the default garmin ones.
I then downloaded ash10's camera manager software and gave a donation.
I have now downloaded the voice alerts into the same folder as the camera alerts and have noticed that the mp3 files have a mixture of capitol letters/lowercase and the camera alert files are just lowercase. Will this affect the working of the alerts as i've read somewhere that it might but cant find the thread again.
Just one more thing, I have a 8gig SD card in my nuvi but I dont seem to be able to download the camera files to it only straight onto the nuvi.
Is this the preferred location or am I able to move these files to the card. |

The sound files mp3 must have the same name as the camera and pic files apart from the .bmp .mp3 bit otherwise they will not workthat includes Upper and lower case. _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database
I keep on learning but they invent new things faster ,How do I keep up ? |

I have now changed al the relevent files into lowercase but have noticed that there are still some files there with upper/lowercase that dont match with anything, should i just leave these or change every file to lowercase?
Also there are some files (PocketGPS_UK_Temp_Seventy MP3) files but no
relevent camera files does anyone know why?
also a zipped file (PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database)
Has anyone that has done this before had this? |

The temp files were done away with some time ago but the voice files still exist. Just delete the voice files with TEMP in the name.
The zipped PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database file is the copy of the database Camera Manager downloads and manipulates. I would just leave that. |

When I look at the voice alerts I notice that they are .wav files and not .mp3 files. Could this be a reason why the voice alerts are not working on my Nuvi 660? or is it that voice alerts are not supported on this GPS? I've tried most things to get this working but still only have the bongs!
Any help appricated... |

As the 660FM has an mp3 player you need to use mp3 fies.
Where did you get the wav files from? |

I got the files by clicking on the CM (ver 2.7) help that took me to http://www.zen19255.zen.co.uk/cm_help/index.html
and scrolled down to "You can download some suitable voice warnings from here. " but these are all wav files!
I since found the mp3 files here; http://tinyurl.com/2rvqx6
I have put these mp3 files in the POI directory on my PC and ran CM (got GPX and BMP files added) and the ran the latest POI loader, but still no voice prompts only bongs!
What am I doing wrong?? |

To use the Voice Alerts you must make sure the mp3s and the GPX files have exactly the same names. POILoader assigns the mp3 to the GPX or CSV with the same name.
To use that particular Voice Pack make sure that in CM under Settings you select "Sort by CDamera Type and Speed Limit", then press Apply and allow CM to generate the files.
Then check you have file triplicates such as
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.bmp
etc
The names must be EXACTLY the same (except for the extension). Then upload the lot with POILoader. |

Thanks PaulB2005. and others.. Finaly got it working... It seems (after reading most of the 50 pages of Ash10's Camera Manager Software) there are two formats going around;
CM download
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Forty.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.bmp
and PGPS dowload
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_40.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_40.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_40.bmp
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_50.mp3
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_50.gpx
PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_50.bmp
and they should not be mixed!
Currently I am experimentimg with PGPS dowload and voices you can find here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-alerts-garmin.php whilst I understand the benifit of voice alerts before trying the full version of CM.
I have chosen Andy Siddell's voice as it seems to "wakes you up" to camera's better than the old bongs or the femail voice.
I'll let you know how I get on...
Thanks again for the swift response! |

Ah yes. Some of the voice packs are specifically labelled for use with Ash10 CM. I assumed you'd seen that. |
