This morning unpacked newly arrived TT3/Fortuna Clip-on. Installed TT software/maps on 3970, charged Fortuna.

Switched Fortuna on - two green lights (battery & sat lock-on). Into bluetooth manager on IPAQ & bonded the fortuna (as SiRF BT/ BT ser port 7) - blue light on the fortuna, but no activity in IPAQ??

Fortuna is not listed in list of GPS devices on the gps link in the GPS satus screen so I picked SiRF BT as the most logical & have tried both BT serial port com 7 & com8.

Can anyone shed light on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom I also just got my Clip-On and I must say it looks very smart.

Anyway this is what I had to do, to get it to work on mine, BTW I have a HP5550 and I am using TTN3.

First, reset your PDA and switch on your BT.
(make sure that you have already made a bond with the GPS receiver)

Next I start TTN3 and choice this GPS reciever.
NMEA 0183v2 38400
COM8

Don't choice serf, it gave me all sorts of problems and I could not use the GPS with other programs.

Let me know how you get on.

Choc Thumbs Up

Thanks Choc,
Tried all that & still no communications (GPS position unreliable & n0 signals) Devices are bonded ok & BT lights flashing away but IPAQ not registering any GPS signals.

Frustrating or what!!!

OK Tom try this, switch your GPS receiver to XT then back to ST and try again.

I presume that you have got a lock on the satellites (green LED).

I did have the same sort of problem as you are experiencing and I managed to get it to work in the end and now it is OK.

What version of PPC do you have, 2002 or 2003?
Are you using the very latest TT 3 updated SW?

The things I encountered where:-
Fortuna, - Use NMEA 0183v2 38400 , COM8
Ensure the battery in both is fully charged before you start the pairing.
If you are inside an building set the FTO to XT mode.
Dont place the iPAQ in a cradle, just charging, it may be attempting a sync.
Any failures, close all tasks on the iPAQ or do a soft reset, TT3 remains in the background when you close it.
The three lights, from the front, centre light is sat lock- green is good. The left side should be blue , ONLY IF, there is BT traffic.
In TT GPS, GPS tab, ensure the blue tick box is selected.

Have fun... Smile
