Has anyone had experience with routes vanishing after they have been renamed and then synced by using SatSync?

I have sucessfully downloaded mmo. files from Walkers World and using Babel, converted them to .gpx files. I have then used SatSync to get them on to my Satmap. These show up perfectly on the Satmap when viewed in the Routes list.

However, these have a Walking World reference number as their title which isn't very useful, so I use EDIT and rename them. This then shows up in my Routes list as the new name. So far, so good.

I then power down the Satmap and turn it on again.

When connected to SatSync, the newly named routes don't appear. When the Satmap is disconnected and rebooted those routes that I have renamd have been deleted. Vanished!

The only way to protect the data is to have also madea copy on the Mapcard and then remove it before SatSync is started.

Any ideas?

I have a suspicion they are not actually deleted, but are just not visible. I know the Satmap doesn't display the file name, but reads the route name contained within the MAP file. If the name is missing I would guess that Satmap has nothing to display so you see no file. Perhaps the Satmap is having problems reading the file you are importing.

When you create the file for loading could you, before importing, open it in Notepad and look for the tag < rte > and the following opening and closing tags < name > < /name > . If the name tags are not present put them in and put the name you want to use between the tags.

Having put my brain into gear Embarassed perhaps there is an easier way of proving this. Go into settings, set "Show Inactive Routes" and then look for the routes on the display.

Many thanks, Jonesbach......

You were absolutely right about the (name) (/name) tag. I had aquired my gpx. files from a variety of sources, some of which didn't include the title data. I have now edited the files to include those tags and they now all show up.
