Hi all. Happy New Year.

can I get at the files on my Garmin 2720 ?
I'd (a) like to see what is on there and (b) find out how much memory I have left ...
Cheers. Mik the Dish

Indeed, if we could drag our experts away from the Virtual Sex stand at the Hilton ...... we may get an answer Wink (if there is an answer - I suspect not).

Mine ran out. I also have US mapping and tried to put that on as well as Europe (well Garmin techy chap said I could) but it doesn't all fit. The problem is that when I consequently tried to put the safety camera database (single UK and single Europe) on, it didn't fit either. I only found this out when I went through several speed cameras (on the A7) and the 2720 didn't "bong" once Sad

I would love to look at the memory and see how full it is, full management would be ideal, so I could delete the US stuff for example.

It musr be possible to remove at least some of the maps either part of europe or part of USA which would then give you enough for the speed camera database

I spent ages trying to find this out to no avail, I have a US import 2720 so have limited space for European mapping, i.e. it doesn't all fit on at once and is loaded into the supplementary mapping memory. The primary mapping is still occupied by the copy of City Nav North America v7 that it came with.

Apparently, if you cancel an upgrade to the US mapping at a certain point you can free up the vast majority of the primary mapping space allowing the whole of Europe to be loaded by using 'send to unit' within Mapsource. I haven't spent the $70 or do this would cost as the space I have on there as it is is sufficient for my needs.

Garmin tech support were less that helpful on this issue stating that I should have purchased a European model.

I would be very interested if someone has found a way to read the memory on the 2720 though.

Edit: Just looked up my findings on getting the US mapping off my 2720, have a look here if you're intrested.

Looking at what's in the internal memory might not be possible but, after advice, last night I managed to delete the US mapping off my 2720 and replace with City Nav Europe 2008 (for which I hold a valid and paid for unlock code). To find out how to do this read the thread in my link directly above.

Please note that doing this will loose the US mapping, there isn't a way to back this up. So unless you have the DVD for this it will be gone forever.
