Routing engines and Nuvi choice

Do all the Nuvi use the same routing engine or are some better than others?

I just want to get from A to B (with Euro maps) and am not too bothered about the bells and whistles but don't mind dropping the cash for a high end Nuvi if it routes better.

For basic A-B routing i don't think any of the Nuvi differ from one model to the next. It's difficult to be sure because a model that is 3 months old may well be different to one that is 3 years old, then again it may depends on the maps too.

On the other hand if you are going from A to B Nuvi 2xx might pick a better route than any other Nuvi, but if you are going from C to D a Nuvi 6xx might pick a slightly faster route than the rest. Travelling from E to F a 3 year old i3 might choose a better route than a brand new nuvi 7x5 model. I have a couple of personal examples where my new(ish) 760T takes a few weird turns where my old i3 used to take a more direct route....

I wouldn't worry too much about the routing. Pick a model that has the features you want and see if you can try one first.
