Nuvi 860 and 765T

Well an interesting 2 days of satnav testing although a little unintentional !!!

I bought a 860 nuvi from Halfords in Bournemouth yesterday morning and then used it to drive up to Cheshire the same day. For the money I was a little underwelmed, I have a Zumo 500 on the bike and I have always found that the hardware and support from Garmin has been faultless but I do find the software a bit boring compared to TOMTOM.

Well last night I decided to register the 860 and update, o dear, managed to freeze the unit totally.

Well today I went to Halfords in Chester and told them of my situation, They couldn't free it up and told me they would happily swap for a new one.

Well, having looked on the forum last night I liked the look of the lane assist on the 765T so asked if I could have one of those instead and they agreed!! -

I have to say the software on the 765 is far better to use than the 860, recalc times are instant, and the lane assist is just fantastic. I have a constant view of current speed and the traffic thingy works really well.

All in all I would certainly recommend the 765 over the 860 and you also save £50
