I am on a bit of a budget but want usa/canada and uk ireland and european maps on 1 machine - Will this do the trick for me.. and are the traffic updates free for life or on a subscription.

Only asking as can get this machine online for between £180 & £205 -

the 930T for £329

the 940T for £385

so looks like 920t for me but need to know maps are up to date as well as free traffic updates for life and will I need to buy a bigger card as i do want the usa/canada maps

Prob stupid questions but you lot know more about these than I do..

The device will be fine for what you want, the RDS-TMC receiver will only work in Europe so leave it at home when venturing to the US.

I would go for a 4GB SD or SDHC card for the device, this gives you more options and less hassle when loading the new larger map files, as supplied the maps are stored on the internal memory but the newer maps will need more than is available, the memory card is the easy way to get around this issue and they don't cost much these days - Mike

Yes RDS-TMC with the 920T is free.
It's great piece of kit (the 920T), I'm sure you will not regret your purchase.

Your existing 2GB card will be fine once inserted to the 920, or if you don't need the North American mapping on a regular basis simply copy the USA map folder to your PC then remove it from the device - this frees up quite a lot of storage space. You can always copy the USA map back to the unit or card should you need to use it for a holiday - Mike
