Hi. I am having problems with the garmin poi loader. I have just downloaded the lastest poi loader version 2.5.2 from the garmin site, thinking it would solve my problem with the poi loader hanging when i try and update my speed camera data base from the PGPS site, but it is still hanging. I have tried downloading to the garmin 610T directly to the sd card & taking the sd card out & try to load it onto the sd card but still no luck. When i open windows task manager it says that poi loader is not responding & the cpu usage is 100%.When i shut down the poi loader the cpu usage drops to 3%, any ideas. I am running windows xp home edition 2002 with service pack2. |

POILoader often looks like it hanging when loading large numbers of POIs, especially if they are in GPX format. This is because the files are usually huge compared to CSV format. If you leave POILoader it'll complete - ignore what Task Manager says about it not responding, POILoader is just busy.
Can you tell use the following?
1) Which database are you loading? What options did you choose when downloading the database from here?
2) How many other POIs are you installing as well?
3) How long you leave it before closing POILoader? |

You're not trying to load both of those at the same time are you?
Can you try just one on it's own with no speed cameras. |

Hi. Sorry for the late reply to your answer, 4 months is a long time. well i,m up and running again. The problem was a virus in my computer that my anti virus software had not picked up. I had to do a complete reinstall of windows xp home & installed the latest poi loader from Garmin. I have just updated my PGPSW speed camera database and all is working fine. Thanks again for your help.
Cheers Swinman. |
