I've tried the screen with two different firmwares. They both gave a blue blurr when using TomTom. This is what it looks like. The left one is an original N73, the rigth one is a N73 with it's screen replaced.

Images removed by philpugh as they exceed the posting size for the site (640*480)

It can also be seen that the colours in standby mode a slightly off. This doesn't matter that much, as it is still readable.

I still think its a problem with the firmware. When you get a phone repaired they usually upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
If it was the screen causing the problem why then do the tomtom colours correct themselves when the charging indicator comes on and then revert back to the blue cast when the indictor goes off.

I my case it's impossible it's the firmware. I changed the display myself (I didn't change the firmware). I have two Nokia N73s, both with a different firmware. I tried them on both, the display did not work correct on both of them.

Hi.

I'm interested in this topic as well, got a new n73 (day old) and another 6 months old and the same happens.

Both running v3.0704.101 (as the updater says no other updates are available).

All other apps are fine, photos are fine everythings fine apart from tomtom which does displays the right colours at the very start (you can see it drawing the blue "fog" just after the spinning globe) and when the phone kicks in like battery full messages

Looks like a bug to me..

I've updated an N73 to the latest firmware, and still it's not working properly in TomTom (blue again). To summarize: I trief two N73's with four different firmwares. It only happens with one screen that I bought from Ebay.

I would do the following:-

I am assuming from the above posts that other apps appear OK? That would certainly point to a problem with TT.

Re-install TomTom (as advised by an earlier poster). In my experience any firmware upgrades of my Nokia 'phones (too many to list) have usually resulted in a need to re-install any apps I installed. On my 6110 a recent firmware upgrade actually "removed" a couple of apps.

Try to down-grade to the previous firmware version to see if the problem goes away. This can be tricky if you are upgrading from a new phone where you don't have a copy of the current firmware - but you can usually obtain one from somewhere. But having been around since the start of PCs you get used to keeping back copies of firmware as one step forward often resulted in two steps back and the old adage - if it ain't broke don't fix it really applies in these circumstances. Only upgrade the firmware if it's fixing a problem you have.

Report it to TomTom as the N73 is on their supported list (one of the few that is!)

same again,

my TT wet buggy on my N73 a few weeks back i thought i could stick it until novemeber as i was due an upgrade,

i called orange, and i was advised id better wait till december for upgrade as ill be entitled to further benifits out of contract,

however i said i cant have a glitchy phone for another month,

out they sent a Version 4 N73, i restored all my goodies, and TT was blue haze, and slow and freezing on me,

ive now today had another new N73 but i shall see if not restoreing and putting the program in manually will work?

will let you know

Dear all,

same problem here...Last week I had some problems with my screen. Sent my n73 to vodafone. they have replaced the screen and flashed with new firmware (4.0.734.3.0.2).

all(screen and other applications) are fine except TOMTOM. when I start TOMTOM screen goes dim blue. I can see all the maps but all dull like a dark room...

Went to nokia site to change the firmware. When I ran nokia software updater it says my phone already got latest software. Is there any otherway I can update the phone firmware.

Could any one please help? Thank you.
