Greetings everyone,

Ex Garmin user and now a TomTom user. Only had the 730 a week but it's performing great. Spent a day navigating around the South Lakes, I had my ordnance survey map to spot interesting villages then just used the voice input to the 730 (Navigate to city centre) and off we went. It knew all the smallest places.

Anyway what I miss is the alert Garmin gave when I went off route, it was only basic, saying "Re Calculating" but it was enough to warn me that the next instructions could be something unexpected, eg. turn down that little road because I need to get you back on track.

Can I get this on TomTom?

Cheers
Roger

There is no verbal cue on TT's, only a visual clue at the bottom of the screen saying 'recalculating route' when it is.

On my TT710 I get a big red U turn arrow showing on the screen. Then usually a few verbal warnings like 'Turn around when possible', or 'Take the next left then turn left'. After I've ignored this a few times it recalculates (and I like to think has a sulk) before giving new directions.
I like to do this every so often when I know short cuts to somewhere that the TT hasn't taken account of when planning a route.
