Hi all!

I'm very frustrated.
I just bought a new BT-Q1000P and installed the Travel Recorder PC Utility V4.2.
I entered in the 28 digit code key, etc...
The installation went fine, however, I cannot get the USB connection to read any data.
It just keeps telling me "Failed To Connect to GPS Module"
I've tried both automatic and manual connection attempts.
It appears on Manual that it attemps to "Scan 3th Comport" for a few seconds...then gives me the "Failed to Connect to GPS Module"

Can anyone tell me what's going on? I've tried plugging and unplugging and reseting the unit. Always have it in LOG mode as the manual tells to do, etc. This is so frustrating. I have a new unit...and I can't even use it!!!

By the way, what is a COMM PORT? Is that just a term used to describe the USB connection? Do I need to connect to a serial port using a USB converter? I'm so confused.

Thanks--

jim

I thought COMM PORT refers to a serial port, but I stand to be corrected.

Still having problems.
Does it have anything to do with CP210x USB software installation?
Am I correct that CP210x should allow you to use a USB for your Comm PORT?

Still not getting anything...

Any suggestions welcome...

There is a USB Driver here http://www.qstarz.com/download.htm

USB are the newer connectors that virtually everything uses these days, the COM Port was a forerunner to these and the one I have in front of me is a D Connector with 5 pins at the top and 4 at the bottom, and is a serial port as stated earlier. A mini USB is the power connector from what I have seen online.

First suggestion would be to make sure you have the most up to date software for everything, also looking on Amazon someone said their Support s very good, so don't despair just yet.

Cheers

Carl

P.S. Please be aware that I don't have one of these pieces of kit, just trying to be of assistance
