Hi all have had my TT 720 for just over a year now and i think its great!!However i am in the process of deciding upon updating to the latest map 8.10 and i can see that this map is gonna be to big for my internal memory so i have bought a new 4 gig card.My question is this....how does home install this map??Do i stick the new map on my card and format the internal memory and when i start up the tt it recognize the map etc on the card??Or do i keep everything as it is on the internal memory slightly confused and don't wanna mess my TT up |

Just instruct Home to use the SD card and it will install the new map to the card, you can either leave the old map in place or remove it then use the storage space for music etc. The x20 and x30 units can share the memory between the built in Flash storage and SD card - Mike |

If you put it on a card you can go to manage maps on your sat nav and switch between the maps in the manage maps part of your software |

Hi TELREA
I see you have had replies on how to install the new map to your SD card. However, I too have a 720 and there should be plenty of room in your internal memory for the new map. After all, it will replace your present one.
And remember, If you make a Windows Backup before you download and install you will not mess up your Tomtom. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

What Trevor1234 is saying is, you don't have to have the space for it - Home will remove your old one and replace it with the new one, all as part of the install procedure - it did with me too.
BUT note his advice to do a backup using Windows Explorer BEFORE starting, for TWO reasons ...
1. If something goes pear shaped, you've got a copy to put it all back together again.
2. The new map will not keep your previous settings (favourites, camera warning settings, etc), so you will need a copy of your current Mapsettings.cfg file to copy over the one in the new map. _________________ Dennis
