You'll find full instructions in the thread I quoted earlier...but I couldn't tell you how far in - I just know it's there and more than likely contributed by Mike Alder, if that helps

Cool, thanks for that - seems to have worked alright using Home.
Have just used Tools menu then Latest Map Guarantee and started the install to what I think is V810. There was a bit on the install screen that showed the price was £49.95. I assume I don't have to pay for this, having only switched it on for the first time about an hour ago

You'd know if you had to pay £49.95 - and you certainly wouldn't be downloading it Wink

I daresay you make a good point Laughing
Anyway, thanks to all your collective help, I now how a TomTom Go 520 with Navcore 8 (8.010?) and map version 810. I've not actually properly used it yet, but having a bit of a fiddle round with it on my desk, I'm very happy with it - postcode entry seems somehow better than my old unit and I don't know if this is anything to do with the QuickGPS fix, but I currently have full satellite reception indoors and was picked up very quickly - something my old 500 wouldn't do.

I can't see any info relating to safety camera warnings and in particular how to turn them off and on. The 500 had them set up as POIs and I could turn these on and off and change the noise of the alerts and so on, but I can't find any safety camera menus on this one.
The other thing I wondered was would my old CD of TomTom stuff (voices, POIs and what have you) work with this new device?

Generally speaking, for £169 (including the TMC jobber), I'm very pleased with it. It's a bit tight that TomTom don't give you a case to carry it around in anymore and the suction mount looks a bit crap compared to the original ones, but I'm sure it'll do the job and if not, I'm sure somebody out there has already come up with a replacement! Laughing

Cheers

If you're using the PGPSW speed cameras, you should be able to copy the .ov2, .bmp, & .ogg files from your old deivice, but it might be easier to download them again.

Can't help you if they are the TT ones as they've never been on my Go and are unlikely to be.

Yes I think you're probably right there. Now I've added the TT files, is there any way to take them off again?

Out of interest, is there an aftermarket mount for the 520 that lets you keep everything plugged into the mount like you could with the Go Classic?

That would be quite a handy thing to have, rather than having to unplug everything individually everytime
