From what I can find on the internet TomTom initially planned to have some form of connection between the TomTom and the car (Eg, to link with headlights) but from what I can tell they've pulled that idea. Not sure why it's still there though... |
I think the TT Go x00 models had a mount you could buy (at an exhorbitant price) and wire in to the car to enable these things. I think TT dropped this feature in future models when nobody bought the bases! _________________ Peter

Hi,
I've been fiddling with my new toy again this morning (Yes! It's an addiction )... Having changed some options, I think I've put everything back to how I had it yesterday but cannot be quite sure.
As I made lots of backups yesterday I was considering rolling out my latest backup.
Could anybody confirm that I am okay to select all and delete all files on the TomTom and then copy and paste the contents of my backup so they are as they were when I originally took the backup? Are there any problems with this I should be aware of? Anything that might go wrong (Eg, lose time, etc?).
Cheers. |

Why bother? Is it busted? Well, then, don't bother. Just fiddle to your heart's content.
Assuming you used Windows Explorer for the backups, delete and copy/paste won't harm. You're now going to tell me you identified every single backup with some notes on the status of your device as backed up - I may come to hate you if you're that smart (are you a southerner?).
OR ALTERNATIVELY. What a plonker, you're as bad as me! The gurus say just change one setting, test and check all is well before you do any more changes. But that's a load of ****, innit? I mean, how do they expect you to make one change, then go testing before you can have a poke at something else? Nutters, they are!! _________________ Dennis

Heh, yeah I s'pose one change a time is better! But that's no fun
I've no problem with the device but would just rather (Yes, OCD alert!!) I had it exactly as it was.
I've kept a few backups each in a seperate folder with some basic details (Eg, 1TomTomNew, 2TomTomUpdates, 3TomTomMap810, 4TomTomPGPSWCam) etc and burned them all to DVD... I'm so happy with the device I wanted to make sure I keep it that way Heh.
I think in a bit I'll run back to the latest backup... Hey if it doesn't work better I find that now than when I really need the backup.
Cheers!
PS. No southerner Midlands. |

Hah! Didn't I just KNOW you were a Softypants Southerner Smartypants?
All those fancypants backup IDs and OCD to go with it.
Listen! One change at a time is booooooooring. Half a dozen changes at once is really exciting, especially if you change the language to Finnish first and select the Afrikaans computer voice to go with it. _________________ Dennis
