Likewise - it fixed the problem on XP as well.

Now if I can only fathom the road preferences which still seem to do the opposite to what I set in a custom profile.....

I have received an email from copilot today containing a patch for the desktop software, and can confirm that this has resolved the isue on my Vista machine.

The like to the download is

http://205.246.138.23/Download/TMobilePatch/Central_v0.5.52.4_patch.zip

Extract the files in the zip folder to a new directory and then copy them to C:\program files\copioot\central

Thanks for the link, Mark.
It works fine for me too.

Does anyone know where else this file can be downloaded. The link does not appear to be working for me.

Thanks

I have also encountered the same problem with the updater not working, which is a pain, as I was told that CoPilot Central is required to transfer the my main program to my own memory card... though I am not sure if this is 100% correct or not.

I now find that I can't even complete the installation of CoPilot Central, neither can I access the file mentioned by 'Mark1968', as the link no longer works.

CoPilot's technical Support have advised me that this is a known problem, and that they hope to have a 'fix' for it in about 10 days or so... needless to say I am NOT impressed, having previously read good reports about this particular program.

At the moment I can't even install it on my Asus M530W from their microSD card... but that's another story... going to try a factory reset, and full reinstallation first!

Hi Montala,

DOes Co-Pilot Central not install at all? I can install it and use it despite getting the error this thread is about. You don't need to install any updates in order to reinstall Co-Pilot onto a new card.

Hi Andy,

According to CoPilot's technical support, in order to transfer the program onto your own micro SD card, it is necessary to use CoPilot Central, which just seems to copy the files from the DVD onto your PC and from there onto the card, although there is probably a bit more to it than that.

I did manage to get CoPilot Central running yesterday, and was advised that there was an update to the main program (dated last October) available. Although I could apparently download it, it would not actually install the files, and kept saying that the update was still required... if that makes sense.

Apparently some people have just managed to copy the files from the micro SD card supplied directly onto their own card, and then install it onto their Smartphone or whatever, which is what I tried to do first.

However the partial blank screen which appeared when I then tried to run CoPilot Live for the first time was exactly the same as when I used their micro SD card directly... hence the need for a 'factory reset'. I have installed and uninstalled quite a few programs recently, (including Route 66) so feel that something might have become a bit corrupted somewhere along the way.

I have been a bit busy today, so haven't had a chance to do it yet... but hopefully tomorrow, as I am looking forward to actually getting CoPilot Live 7 up and running... and to see how it works with my new Emtac mini S3 Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Hi Andy,

I think you will find you do need the updates if you want to install it on a device running Windows Mobile 6... but I have some good news for you and indeed for anyone who is still having problems installing CoPilot Central on their Vista PC.

ALK actually released a patch late yesterday afternoon, which hopefully fixes the problem, and which can be found at: http://www.alk.eu.com/files/v7/Central_v0.5.52.4_patch.exe

I think this will only work though if your version of Central is 5.52.4 (mine was!)

Basically you install the program from the DVD first and then apply the patch before actually running it. After having set up an 'account' it will then allow you to download the necessary updates, and you can then install CoPilot Live 7 on to your own micro SD card.

As i mentioned in the post above I still can't install it on my Asus M530W however and am currently waiting on feedback from both Asus and ALK.

Hi,

I have a problem with Copilot Central and ALK.COPILOT.UPDATER which just crashes and prevents me from updating PPC (XDAOrbit 2).

Any more ideas since this thread was last active please?

I am running Vista and XP. Both same problem.
My version of copilot is 0.5.86.3

Thanks,
Chris

This is the reply I received from CoPilot...:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.

With regards to your query we are aware of this issue and our developers
are working to release a new build in the future but an ETA is not known
yet.

All the main features of CoPilot Central (such as Plan a trip, Maps
downloads, Online options) are still working without problems.

If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been
resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our
attention.

Regards,

CoPilot European Technical Support

My reply to this was less then helpful unfortunately...:

I have deleted Copilot. The worst software I have seen for years. It
clearly doesn't work in my case and others. The 1gb card now contains lots of porn.
I have decide to go TOMTOM. Never been happier
.
