|

Hi all - whilst I have done topic search, I have not seen a clear answer to my problem.
Since updating my TTOne 3rd to software level 8.?? I seem to be getting an intermittent loss of all sound. This only comes back after a reset, and unfortunately the problem comes back within a day or so.
My gut feeling is to roll the software back to version 7.???
Does anyone have a view on this, better still a fix, and a link to the old software version. I stupidly did not do a backup doh! Also can someone point me to the idiots version of how roll the software back.
Many thanks

Shame you didn't do the backup.....
But there is a NEW issue with the One 3rd Edition, where even if you HAVE got a backup, it is not as easy to roll back to a previous version.
I think it has been solved though and if I remember rightly all you had to do was run the "Clearflash" utility after the rollback.
Someone will be along in a while to point you to the right place if I've got it wrong, but to start with THIS TOPIC is the bible of all things "3rd Ed." so it might well be worth wading through all umpteen pages of that.
Some earlier versions of software are on Oldboy's page HERE but you don't say which software version you WERE running, can you remember? |

Hi - Thanks Andy_P for your post. The version was 7.166 as it was up to date before V8 was released.
I look forward to the next post coming along.
Thanks again

OK that's easy in theory...
Using Windows Explorer, you just:
1. Delete all the LOOSE files from the Go (i.e. the ones NOT in any folders). LEAVE ALL THE FOLDERS AND THEIR CONTENTS ALONE (I had to emphasise that, someone on another forum has just carefully deleted all the folder contents but left the folders themselves... not good!).
2. Download the v7.166 files, unzip the archive and paste the files back in the same place you had the others.
You can get them from Oldboys archive thatI linked to above, or I've now found the topic I was referring to, which also has a link to get them from TomTom themselves (if the link still works!).
Read all about it HERE (the main post is at the bottom of page 1).
That has always worked for every machine, until this niggle with the One 3rd came along.
If it doesn't... try the Clearflash ( from HERE
As always, BACKUP first!! |

Andy_P - many thanks for all your help. I will give it a try tonight.
Seems to me that v8 was released a bit to early, or have I just been unlucky?
cheers

i lost all my sound today on the 520. i fixed it by turning it off, pulling out the power lead, leaving it a few minutes then turning it back on again..? or is that too simple ;)

mines done that a few times too - all sound just goes.
no phone, no music and no directions
it is fixed by turning it off - what i have noticed is that it does a "cold" startup when you turn it back on almost like it had crashed... funny that |

How have you got the "directions turned off"?
If you have just muted the speaker (ie Change Preferences/Turn off sound) Then the music will still pause while any navigation instructions are played (even though you don't hear them!) Stupid eh?
You have to go to Change Preferences/Voice preferences/Disable voice instead.
For some daft reason, if you use the Bluetooth output for the music you get the option of whether to pause the music for instructions or not; but on the FM output you don't! |

Should do... The "silent voice" is treated just like any other. There's nothing you can do to stop the FM ouptut muting when any voice instruction comes through, silent or otherwise, EXCEPT this "disable voice" option.
Also, IIRC, that option didn't appear on units pre-x20 range. |

Hi again - just thought I would update you on the progress of this problem. After following all advice there has been no solution to this problem. I contacted customer support at Tomtom who suggested the usual steps to fix the problem... to no avail. They quickly instigated the sending back of the unit, and very promptly sent the kit needed to send the unit to Regenersis for repair. The unit is less than 6 months old, so I am assuming a warrenty job, I supplied a copy of the receipt.
That was last Wednesday. Yesterday the unit was sent back, with a standard letter saying NO PROBLEM FOUND. As soon as I turned it on the the stuttering voice of Jane came on and off and on and off...
Have emailed them again via the support page to send another kit to send the unit back again....no reply yet.
Looking around this forum and others there seems that there may be a fault in the speakers on some units? can any one out there confirm this? should I take the unit back to Staples where I bought it?
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Hi - well I sent the unit back to TT after prodding cutomer services. They sent the unit back within 4 days, with a new speaker in it. Seems to be working fine now. Shame they didn't believe me the first time. However alls well that ends well.......so far!
