im very sorry that i disturbed you at work,i thought i would give you a update,ive jpoined tom tom home and now i have a few more folders i have a folder called, statdata, ttntools, LoquendoTTS,i did a update on my tt910.so now when i switch the tt on i hear the drums,i get the green bar that shoot from the right to the left and then i get a white screen with the picture of tom tom and something underneath like find the easy way.many many thanks mike and everbody else |

Looks like somebody ran a file recovery program on that disk, 'loquen~1' is the sort of name you get when you reduce a FAT32 system back to a FAT16 naming convention . |

Can you get into any of the folders with the strange names? Perhaps by clicking on them using windows explorer. If possible you want to recover your map data. If you can get into any of these folders can you see a file called cname.dat? This would indicate that the folder contains a map. |

when i place the cursor on the folders it says folder ewmpty,when i try to open foulder is says file could be corrupted or unavailable,i have 11 of these corrupted folders with strange names . |

I think it's time to give up on them....
When Mike's DVDs arrive delete everything on the 910 (it might be wise to format it especially if there are any files/folders that won't delete) then copy those DVDs onto the Go and with a bit of luck it will fire up and say "no maps found". Then you can use Home to buy a new map. |
