Do the Reset and it will usually clear the problem.

I don't know if you have the same thing in Lunux but is there a Safely Remove Hardware Function. Would it be called something like Unmount.

The problem is that USB Devices don't always finish writing before you unplug them. So disconnecting in an orderly fashion is usually what does the trick.

Oldboy,

Did a proper unmount.

Trying the reset button.........

Guys, I have a working SatNav.

I notice that no voices are installed. With the exception of the downloaded updates (thanks), I was going to copy the old stuff back to the TT, including a voice. Unfortunately, the card isn't big enough. Can you tell me what I can delete, to make room?

Old copy of data (what do I need, what can I delete?):

CurrentMap.dat data10.chk data22.chk fram.vif sve.vif
danm.vif data11.chk data23.chk GPL system
dan.vif data12.chk data24.chk Great_Britain-24813ff3.mds tomtom.aid
data00.chk data13.chk data.chk Great-Britain-Map TomTom-Cfg
data01.chk data14.chk deuf.vif itam.vif ttgo.bif
data02.chk data15.chk deum.vif ita.vif ttsystem
data04.chk data16.chk engf.vif nldf.vif usaf2.vif
data05.chk data17.chk engm.vif nldm.vif usaf3.vif
data07.chk data18.chk espm.vif nld.vif usam.vif
data08.chk data19.chk esp.vif norm.vif vla.vif
data09.chk data20.chk fraf.vif nor.vif

What the TT currently has installed, including new updated files (what can I delete to make room?):

benelux-3d17d67a.mac itn
contacts libaec.so
CurrentMap.dat logging
data.chk settings.dat
Deutschland-7308B0C3.mac system
France-7c28ec95.mac ttgo.bif
Great_Britain-24813ff3.mac ttsystem
Great_Britain-24813ff3.mds Upgrade Notes.txt
Great-Britain-Map Western_Europe-312D31C0.mac
install.bif Western_Europe-312D31C0.mds

Cheers,

Chris.

Well all seems to be working (GPS signal would be handy). Just haven't got a voice. I copied 2 files over that looked like voices:

engf.vif
engm.vif

Still no voice. Can anyone help.

Cheers,

Chris.

I would keep everything on the Linux and just copy the following Files.

data04.chk and data05.chk
engf.vif and engm.vif

These are the 2 English UK voices.

Great-Britain-Map TomTom-Cfg
CurrentMap.dat
tomtom.aid

Thanks, Oldboy. The voice files are already copied. Do the data files contain the rest necessary for speech, as TT thins I haven't any voices at the mo.

Chris.

Think I just answered my own question. The data files are linked to the other two files, when examined in a text editor.

Given the difficulty with TTHome, does anyone know the name of an up to date UK map, so that I can find one and hopefully install it in the same way?

Cheers,

Chris.

Maps are commercial products and have to be paid for from TomTom, discussion of pirate software is not welcomed here so lets keep it clean please.

Try This.

It's a 720 Map so you will have to update the Software to the latest, which I believe is V7.163 for the GO Classic.

It is the UK & RoI Map and should go on to the SD Card that you already have, but I would be inclined to get a new, bigger, SD Card so that there is plenty of spare memory.

The software gets bigger with each version increment.

Guys,

Are the maps related to the firmware version?

My firmware is now 6.525, but my map is V3.90.

Anyone know what version map postcode searches started with.

Cheers,

Chris.

## When software refers to Navigator, is that the same as the firmware, or is that the software? I'm confused.

The software is often mistakenly called the firmware.

The Full Postcode Files work with all Versions of Software that have the Menu Structure of Navigate to ... (Find) | Address | Postcode. It's been around so long I think it came in with V5.xxx

Your current Map came out in 2004 and is long out of date.

Oldboy,

I only have a 128meg SD card. Do you know which the latest UK map is that I could squeeze on it, with the only other files being essential ones, that I need for a voice and running the TT?

I know this won't be the latest version, but think I may be able to find another old version, without offending TomTom.

Cheers,

Chris.

The Map that I linked to above will fit on the 128MB Card.

The Software is about 7Mb.

This will leave you with enough room to put several POIs on. Just remember to always leave about 2MB Free Memory on the Card, so the Device can make notes. Smile

A Device where you only have to pay £30 for the Maps, is pretty good value, ..... and everything seems to offend TT.

Oldboy,

Should I be able to just download this and copy it across to my TomTom, like the previous upgrade?

Cheers,

Chris.
