Hi

I'm toying with the idea of buying a Tom Tom 720 for use here in Northern Ireland (and in the Republic). However, all my previous products have used Navteq mapping and I'm conscious that Tom Tom uses Teleatlas.

Can someone reassure me that the level of coverage here is now as good as Teleatlas. Previously you went outside of the Belfast and nothing existed. I know things have changed dramatically but I would be grateful for some details on the level of mapping detail (full postcodes, house numbers etc) for Northern Ireland.

thanks in advance

ianrm

Just realised the 730 is now out - anybody any experience of the lane guidance feature in Northern Ireland or ROI (ok I know we don't have many motorways here but they do get busy sometimes!)

TomTom and teleatlas mapping in NI has been really good for about 2 years now.

I have had TT for several years (starting on a PDA). When I used to go to NI working in the early days I got absolutly nothing once out of Belfast.

Recent years have shown main routes been added and then, finnaly full street mapping has been added this last 18 months or so.

I use TT to navigate to mobile phone sites, that are quite often on hilsides etc. TT many times gets me right to the door of them!

I cant compare it Nazteq direct but I have not found any issues myself while working over there for approx 4 months.

Steve

No problems with my TT720 and 7.15 maps. Coverage is easily as good as my old Garmin Street Pilot 2730 which has now been farmed off to my sister Laughing
