Found the brightness of the screen not bright enough in sun light.
910 set at maximum brightness, eyes coming out of sockets to see where to go.

QUESTION: Is there a upgrade for brighter screen. Tomtom did not read my e-mail, they told how to adjust the brightness, I have already stated I have done that.
Any info, I would be grateful.....

NEXT QUESTION: June07 bought 910 with the latest software installed.
Travel to Spain found new MOTORWAY not on map. Motorways took TWO YEARS to build, so the latest map installed is TWO YEARS OUT OF DATE.
TomTom made no comments, only purchase an upgrade, what in 2007, ??.

If one purchased the upgrade map and the Motorways are not on it, NO REFUND BECAUSE YOU HAVE OPENED OR DOWLOADED IT.

Not Impressed with Tomtom......

Any suggestions from anybody.........

I think if they were to add a motorway before it was finished a lot of people would be upset when directed to a build site Shocked

Best buy a new map

Screen brightness - Some people have said that some software updates have made a slight difference. Probably not enough to satisfy you. Only other suggestion is a sunshade like the Drumma Visor (may be out of stock for the 910 now, but I remember seeing a recent post about maybe re-starting production). There are several others (or were).

Maps - the most often discussed topic. Maps are always out of date for all satnavs. Argument rages as to whether maps from Mapmaker A are better than Mapmaker B. If you have a specific querey, ask here before you buy a new map and someone will usually look it up for you to see if it has been corrected. Supply Lat/Long co-ordinates or specific town names for best results.

No-one can really answer that for you, mate.
If there are specific areas on your map that are wrong and it affects you, then ask here and people will tell you if they have been improved. Then you can decide if it is worth paying £30 for it.

But if you rarely notice any significant errors as you drive around then it's probably not worth it.

HOWEVER,
1. Lots of people "feel the need" to be as upto date as possible (e.g. they have to update all their PC drivers even when everything works fine already), are you one of those?
2. If you had v7 maps, you could join the "Mapshare" program, that lets you make minor changes and corrections to the maps and download those made by others.

v675 maps already work with MapShare when paired with v7.x application. Of course, TomTom probably won't be maintaining it for too much longer - 12 months from release, right?

You're right of course! Another reason not to bother updating.

They've realised that was unfair and extended it to be at least 12 months from when you buy it. See this News Report for more details.

Does anyone know if mapshare updates are "shared" between v6.75 and v7.10 maps. If not, there won't be many updates coming through for anyone with the v6.75 map from others.

Andy - Good news indeed! Thanks for sharing.

GerryC - I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that there is no inter-map sharing of updates. I haven't done a formal test, but since I have both versions I could check it out later this week if nobody else chimes in.

Or maybe not...How do you know if the change is "transferable" or if it's just been made in both maps independently?

I would be more interested in testing whether the updates are cross-build compatible, rather than cross-version. For example, will updates made to the "USA and Canada" maps (<1GB for most units) show up in the "North America" maps (~1.5 GB for 700/910)?

I can't be sure where to find it, but I'm pretty sure we proved that the corrections AREN'T shared across map versions. Dumb eh?
