Hi everybody,
I am new to your site. I have just recieved a garmin nuvi 250 for christmas. Is it me ? or is the manual a little on the small side with very little information. OK here are my questions. How do I find what version sofware I have ? I have just downloaded the speed camera information from the Garmin website, how do I find out if it loaded correctly, as the nearest speed camera to me is about 16 miles ( lucky I know )
Thanks to anybody that responds to this post.

I've also recently had a new 250.
Yes the manual is very brief. My advice, simply sit with your new toy and go through all the menu's. (You can do it indorrs, it will stop searching for satellites after a short while).
That way I'm sure you will find the answers to your questions, (some of the menu's are not immediately clear as to what they contain). The next task is to remeber where everything was.
Also, be sure to connect it to the internet having downloaded the Garmin update software. This will automativcally check your unit and update it as necessary. There have been 2 updates since I brought mine, but I'd strongly recommend you back the whole thing up first to your PC in case it fails.
I'm sorry but I don't know of a way to confirm that the Garmin camera database has loaded correctly, other than to go into map mode and move to a location where you know there is a fixed camera to confirm it has been captured.

Thank's Geoff,
It,s been a couple of day's since I posted this message.
I have now found most thing's, like you say, just looking into the menu really. You would have thought this would be in the manual though.
I have downloaded the latest software from Garmin.

I quite agree. As it stands, the manual is fine for a 'quick start' and we all know we're generally poor at reading manuals, however a more detailed manual with for example all menu screens (after all there aren't that many!) would be useful, even if it's only available as a download (to save printing costs etc.) |
