It does with the 720 if you have an SD card installed as well - see screenshot. When you connect the 720 and TTHome starts it prompts asking which device (internal or SD card) should be used.

I recently bought the 4GB SDHC card specifically for the US maps that I will be buying in the next few days

The question/answer was related to the use of the Hard Drive.
