NUVI 270 map releases?

I want to buy a NUVI 270 but I can wait a month or two, what I don't want to do is buy one and find out that:

(a) the maps are out of date very quickly (within a year)

(b) they are now selling the same model with later maps

Any advice on how up to date the maps are on the NUVI 270 and how soon they are likely to ship a new mapping level?

The Garmin range currently uses v9 maps. v10 (2008) are due out in early 2008 but no fixed date yet.

In the past Garmin did say if you bought a unit with old maps after the new maps were released then you can have a free upgrade to the new maps. However it seems this might be dropped with the new maps.

If you really want the new maps then wait for the v10 maps to be released and get a unit with v10 maps. How long you'll have to wait???

I get along just fine with my v8 maps even if they are 2 years old. Sadly with Sat Nav its possible for a new maps to have a new road that is 6 months old included only to find a 3 year old housing estate is missing. Having new maps is NO guarantee that they'll be totally up to date.

There's a post elsewhere in this forum that indicates that people have been receiving the 2008 mapping with very recent purchases of the nuvi 6XX range - perhaps it's the same with other models?

Yes and the new 2008 version is available click here but not as an upgrade yet.

Do you know if the current and/or future versions of the Nuvi 270 have maps for Czech republic (Prague) included?

Also can it be used easily when walking?
