spoken roadnames & pedestrian setting on TomTom

I am thinking of getting a new SatNav & have previously owned a Garmin.

Can someone tell me if the new TomTom One v3 or or XL have spoken road names (eg. "Turn left at Cranhurst St" rather than simply "turn left")

Also, do they have pedestrian settings to use while outside the car?

Assuming you are UK based only the 520, 720 or slightly older 910 devices offer the Text To Speech which is what you need if the device is to read out road names, the One Third Edition and One XL do not support this feature.

USA based could consider the One XL which has got TTS on a certain model announced yesterday, this unit is no good for UK use though, as it does not have UK/ European mapping installed.

As for out of car use, all TomTom products have a route profile for pedestrian use, it is stil road biased though and no use if you want to go fell walking/ mountain climbing - Mike

You also have to remember that only the TomTom computer voices will work with TTS for actually naming the roads when you turn.
