Then you must be "The one". Are you sure your name is Andy and not Neo? Cool

I agree with Andy, never had to reset the MapShare option since bought it back in August.

Can I ask what settings you two use? And do you use the 'Mark error' button in the Quickmenu?

Usually I have:
Use these corrections...
Myself
TomTom
Subscribed POI
Trusted Sources
Reported by many

Sometimes (for testing purposes, when someone wants to know if his uploads are working) I add "reported by some". It's actually on at the moment.

On the next page I have "Ask me to share my corrections every time", though I think that might apply to sharing via Bluetooth only (which I don't use) as I don't think it ever asks me specifically when I connect to home.

On the next page, I DO have "Show report button" (for the Quick menu). It seems to work and is not greyed out, but I don't think I've ever actually used it in anger.

Tim I have all 6 of the "Use these corrections" ticked.

After the "I Agree"

I have "Always Share my corrections with others" selected

"Show Report Button" Selected

Mark Error button on main Screen left hand side above the compass

TomTom POI's I have selected to use are :-

Car Repair Garage
Dentist
Doctor
Hospital/Clinic
Petrol Stations
Pharmacy
Police

Thanks, guys. I have the first four on page 1 (resets to first two only), the middle one on page 2 (never resets) and "Show button" on p3, which resets to "Hide button", although the button doesn't actually get hidden, it just doesn't work until I "Show" it again.

Is there anything I can do to get Mapshare POI's working?

I am using TomTom Home 1.6 and get offered all the POI's for download, but they never actually get installed on my 720, as I keep getting offered the same POI's.

I am receiving Mapshare map updates without problem, but the POI's have never worked.

Is this normal behavior for POI updates? I also download the same POI updates every single time I check.

???

Once you have subscribed to that particular POI you always get that POI category offered for download. I assume that even if there are no changes it just overwrites the previous file.

If it works how I think it does, it's just like the PGPSW Speed camera data if you didn't bother to look at the version number or date....
You go to the site and install it. You then go back to the site a few days later, download and install again. It will overwrite the old version but there won't be any changes. A week later you download again, this time it's a newer version, so it overwrites and this time there will be changes.

I can only get the updated Mapshare CAxxxx files to work if I rename them.

For example CA7322 has to be renamed to Police Station.OV2 to view the POI's on my 720.

The mapshare POI's do not work as they should.

You can't expect consumers to have to rename every file just to make it work. Confused

Well all I can say is that is not how it is working for me and, it seems, almost everyone else..

To prove it, I copied CA7322 and renamed the copy to NewPolice.ov2 (so the ca7322 file was still there).

Every entry on the NewPolice file that I looked at on the map was already there as part of the built-in Police Station POI category.

Just done an update on the 720, a new POI file was downloaded for Both Dentists file CA9374.ov2 and Doctors file CA9373.ov2 both of which have had ALL the UK POI's removed. The nearest listed are on the Continent.

So have just added some UK ones to both and uploaded.

If this is an error on the TomTom server then fine, but if somebody has deliberately deleted all the UK POI's from the Doctors or Dentists then this MapShare feature is doomed.

This not only effects the POI files in the help me section but the main POI files as well, when I did a find in TomTom for Doctors & Dentists both come up with just the continental ones.

Interesting... I'll try it myself now...

At the moment before I update, if I look at "Doctors"/ Nearest me, I have 6 UK ones before any Continental ones.
1 - My own Doctor
2 - HighTown
3 - Sibford
4 - Avenue House
5 - Avondale
6 - Newbold
7 - Vanwalleghem (De Panne, Belgium)

That is with ALL "trust" options ticked in the Mapshare Preferences.
If I un-tick "Corrections I made myself" I lose my own doctor, but the rest are still there.

I'll now try an update....

OK, I have now updated (using Home v2.1) and YOU ARE RIGHT!

The nearest Doctors shown are now:
1 - My own Doctor
2 - Vanwallegan w
2 - Bossuyt m
3 - Depijper eric
etc.

All previous updates except my own have gone.

I can think of two possible reasons:
1. Mapshare is still rubbish and not working properly, or
2. Mapshare WAS rubbish, and the problem they had with corrupted updates (referred to on the TT website HERE) means that they have junked them all and started again.

Either way I think we have a right to know why. I for one will be raising this with them as a question right now.

Edit: question sent to TT describing the above example. We'll see what they say!

If you look back to my post on the 18th in this forum you will see a list of Doctors that were on mine. I might just dig out that POI file from the backup set and rename it to a PA and see if it will upload it.

Either way it means that all the time others have spent adding POI's for their own localities has been waisted.

It also puts a black mark against the MapShare features if this has been done deliberately. Bee interested in what TomTom have to say about it.
