I've been using my i3 for a few years now without any probelms until......

I tried in a Golf MKV, it's almost unusable.

I can take up to 45 mins to locate satilites and when it does it constantly looses reception.

Any one else had this with a Golf MKV or has any tips of what I can try?

What I've tried so far.

1, Moving location, different places on the windscreen.
2, Updating fireware to 3.4.
3, Reloading back to 2.7.
4, Removing POI's.
5, Keeping new batteries in the unit.
6, Tested in garden (takes about 2mins to lock on).
7, I'm going to see if I can borrow a TomTom to test with that.

Most likely you have a heat reflective windscreen that blocks the signal to the unit. You need an antenna run either to the rear parcel shelf, an untreated area of the windscreen or onto the roof. See my sig below for the Maplin code for the right one ~£10.

As for the TomTom if it is a newer unit with a SiRfIII antenna it'll probably work ok.

I'm pretty sure the Golf's don't have a heat reflective windscreen.

I'm going to try a mates i3 tonight see if thats that same.
