TT3 routing across countries without major roads of Europe?

Hi all,
In preparation for a holiday this summer does anyone know if it is possible to plan a route from France to Spain with the full maps of France and Spain installed on the memory card but no room for the Major Roads of Europe map as well?

i.e. Is cross country mapping only possible using the Major Roads of Europe map?

Hi Ian,
having seperate maps installed will mean you will have to pin point a route to the exit point of the map, and then manually switch maps to the other country etc.

using major roads of europe will get you there without switching maps.

i would get a 128 sd or cf card and add the major roads to it, this way you have street level navigation (using your country map etc) and direct navigation using major roads.

Thanks Nick,

I am buying a 512Mb card especially for this trip and my CF slot is taken up by the GPS. The 512Mb will nearly all taken up by the full detailed map of UK, France and Spain leaving no room for the major roads map unfortunately.

Do you know if I can use the itenerary function of TTN3 to store my route, using the separate maps planning a leg to the edge of one map and then switching to another map and planning that leg all in advance of my departure? I am happy to switch maps as I cross the border if necessary but would just like to pre-plan the trip.

Alternatively, could I say put UK, France and Major Roads on to plan that leg in the itinery, then remove the UK from the memory card and add on Spain, enter that part of the itinery and then finally remove the major roads and be left with a fully planned trip?

Hi Ian,
might be easier to do away with the UK Maps, and replace with major roads of europe etc, this way you will get all the way there and back via main routes etc.

UK Roads will still be shown using major roads of.....just street level detail will be missing.

im sure you can "follow your nose" when back in the uk etc :-) or you could get a 128 spare sd card, and add the uk maps to this (just incase you need to use etc)

Personally, if i was going that distance i would use the major roads, and worry about the uk when i got back as id much prefer to get lost here rather than abroad....(its a language thing.......)
