Backup nuvi 660t

As a beginer, can I ask for advice on how to backup my Garmin nuvi 660T.

Put the USB cable into the GARMIN and connect to your PC and turn the GARMIN on.

The GARMIN should be recognised by the PC as a couple of disk drives. One is the main GARMIN drive and the other is the SD card slot

You need to backup the main nuvi drive. Ensure that you have Windows Explorer set to show hidden files and copy all files into an empty folder on your PC.

If you are really paranoid you can then burn this to CD/DVD-RW

It is recommended you do this before any upgrade / addition of features.

It doesn't take all that long and it gives you a warm comfortable feeling

If you don't see the nuvi as a device then your Windows system may be too old to work. You need to be Windows 2K or later

Although you will be able to recover most files and restore your system to it's pre update state; this is not true for the GTM21 upgrades - which once loaded can't be undone (unfortunately).
