Not this time Laughing for once TomTom have got something working correctly out of the box Shocked Shocked

At least ID3-TagIT is free. Make sure you have Microsoft .net Framework 1.1 installed, available via Microsoft update.

Hi,

i got my 520 few days ago and today i wanted to use my 520 so i switched it on and the red cross icon apeared on the screen. Connected it via usb to my pc (vista) so sd card apeared in my 'computer' and also i could see 'Removable media' which meant to be the internal memory but it is not accesible, also when I connect my device my system hangs...

How can I restore my device to the previous version?

Hi, maybe this would have been better as a new topic? It doesn't follow on from previous posts. Hopefully a mod will split it away...

But to get started on your problem, you say "how do I restore it to the previous version". Have you actually changed it in any way? You don't say that you have updated the software...

If you haven't, before you change anything on the TomTom, we need to sort out why the PC isn't recognising the Flash Memory and the SD card slot as new drives. Are you sure you have it the right way round? Normally the flash memory comes up FIRST (the lower drive letter). Is that not what you are getting?

Computer voice distortion when battery low.
UK 'Help Me' POI missing for Police,Doctor, Dentist,Pharmacy.
Noisy FM transmitter. (some better than others)

Any more?

Having just bought a TTG520, rather shocked to see my nearest doctor is apparently 264 miles away! hmmmm ... is there a fix for this?

Yes, it is the mapshare feature where you can update the POIs as well as the maps.

It is disappointing that TomTom do not appear to have even tried to get lists of doctors etc for the Help screens when these are so strongly advertised.

Cheers
Paul

But don't you have to pay a subscription for Mapshare, my unit came with a voucher for a period of use of subscription services, but when I went to activate it, it told me the voucher had expired!!!!

No, you should have mapshare available for at least a year. All you have to do is sign up. I did it via Home but you can also do it on the machine via a bluetoth connected phone I think.

Actually i haven't changed anything. I managed to format the internal memory with my friend's tablet win xp. Vista as I said before stack. Works fine now.

Thanks.

MapShare.

Go to map corrections.
Correct map error.
Add missing POI

Select category.

On Map.
Select location by tapping o the map.

Enter Details.
Enter phone number.

Do it for all the category's you need such as chemist, Doctors, Police etc.
These update go to TomTom so should be downloadable by others. If everybody updated their own locality it would gradually build up a complete UK coverage.

TT is aware that the 720, with hands-free calling, creates a buzzing sound
Also, one party can be heard but can not hear the person they're calling
There's also an issue with Home 2.0 I believe, but they're working on it.

Do you know if there is any chance of the hands-free calling issues being helped with a software update? Or am I right to assume they are hardware related?

Thanks for you input on various topics by the way, good to have some information from the horses mouth as it were!

1. High streets always announced as High Street Colliers.

The road I have to use to get anywhere from home is Main Road, and the 720 announces what sounds like "Main Road Levels". Has anyone noticed this with other Main Roads, or does it just happen with Main Road, Icklesham?

It isn't a problem, unless there's someone in the car who believes everything they read in the Daily Mail, and they find it very amusing!

I tried a couple of Main Roads and had the same issue. Sounds more like a hiccup than 'Levels' to me, though.

Thanks for checking, Tim.

I've now listened to it on a demo route, and I think it says 'Earls'. There are more levels in this area than earls, so that's what I interpreted it as!
