Perhaps if you read Ashs help file you will find the answer

If you'd read any of this thread you'd see you can manipulate how the alerts behave. I use it so i get an initial single warning of a camera 30 seconds away regardless of my speed and then get a further continuous warning if i am over the speed limit within 10 seconds of the camera.
There are a few other options too... |

I believe that vf070823 has joined us from the "other" (ie: Tomtom) side, but has ignored my suggestion that Tomtom-related discussion be kept in that forum...
For the sake of completeness, with Tomtom none of the timings/approach/overspeed warnings manipulation applies. Essentially what you get is an automated update checker, downloader, post-processor, and installer. Oh, and nice icons too.
To answer the question "Why should I use it?", well that's very much a personal preference. If you're happy doing everything manually, then that's just fine - nobody's forcing you to use it!  |

I posted this on a new forum earlier, I meant to ask it on this one.
I have a Nuvi 300 and I install my camera data using Ash10's utility (full version after making donation) set up to install cameras by type (not speed zoned). I am having a problem where I keep getting warnings for cameras staying on screen long after I've passed them and sometimes reappearing after a few hundred yards. It's intermittent and does't happen with all cameras. I've tried reducing the timings on Ash10's utility to reduce sensitivity but this hasn't worked.
I've checked and it's not that I am coming close to another (different) camera nearby. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? It's really annoying.

I have not experienced your problem on my Nuvi 310 with a route planned. To eliminate Ash's utility, try just loading the PGPSW database directly through POI Loader to see if it's the Nuvi or Ash's utility causing the problem.
Is it always the same cameras?
What firmware do you have on your Nuvi 300?

That's a very old firmware for the Nuvi 300, and some of the updates since then have made changes to the speed alert system, so it may well be your Nuvi that's the problem, and not Ash's utility at all.
I would suggest you read up on updating the firmware, although I recommend you take a full backup of the Nuvi before performing the update.

Ultimately, Camera Manager just generates a list of coordinates, albeit in GPX files - the easiest way to check these is to drop them into MapSource.
My guess is that it's a firmware/PoiLoader issue - probably the former. |

Which version of firmware is the best? I had an i3 before and I remember installing one "newer" version on it that messed up the time it took to get satellite fix so much that I reverted to the original firmware.
Which version is most "glitch free"?

Also, how do I backup my Nuvi 300? Can you dowload earlier versions of firmware if you have problems with the latest version (4.60) on the website?

I don't have a Nuvi 300 to be able to comment on the best firmware, although my Nuvi 310 is running the latest.
To backup the unit, copy and paste a copy of the whole Nuvi internal memory onto your Windows PC in a new directory. Don't forget to have Explorer set to show hidden files (there's one hidden file if I remember correctly). There should be more detailed instructions someone in this forum if you search.
Then download the latest update manually from the Garmin website, and run it. Do NOT use WebUpdater (with a firmware that old). Once you have applied the latest firmware, feel free to use WebUpdater to check for any other updates that might be worthwhile for your unit.
Although not from Garmin, there is a website in the US with all previous firmwares available for download. Again, a quick search should find the URL should it be needed. However, I would give the unit a day or two with the new firmware to make sure you don't like it - although there have been lots of new features added over the last year, there have been less "major issues" such as the i3 problems.

Hi
I've checked again and the 2.90 I thought was the firmware is the "GPS SW Version". My "Software Version" is actually 4.60 which is the latest version. I'm not sure what the difference between these is but it looks like it's back to the drawing board on what is causing my camera problem.
