What about USB ON-THE-GO?
Will this be the answer?

Got the Legend C for Christmas, now I would like to link it to a PDA for mountain biking to view Topographic maps. Will I have to sell it and get a plain etrex?

Sorry I dont know but I am still trying to work out if it will work with Memory Maps or not before I buy a Legend C

Not sure of the use of connecting it to a PDA when you can get bluetooth GPS recievers for less than a hundred quid - or am I missing something

This way I would save on the GPS receiver since I already own the Legend C.

I didn't quite get your doubt about the memory maps so I can't help you.

You wouldn't save much if you sold your Garmin and bought a new one though.

My concern over memory maps stems from earlier posts saying that the Garmin does not do NMEA but Memory Maps needs this. I think from elsewhere that this is no longer the case and MM is now compatible but not 100% and about to buy a Legend C tomorrow.

I use it for mountain biking, the rough look on the Legend C is a plus for me.
I would only like to link it to the PDA in case I need more detailed maps. The PDA would be carried on a backpack and used only on emergencies.

The addition of USB certainly is welcome by the world of laptop users who had to buy a serial-to-USB converter to be able to connect with their computers. I get the moving map with many programs using the Garmin-Garmin settings.

I can confirm that the Franson GpsGate Express app allows the Streetpilot i3 to spoof NMEA via the USB interface (via the supplied lead) onto a virtual COM port (6-20) of your choice - and I have successfully fed AutoRoute 2005 positional data in this manner.

As an added advantage it draws power on the same cable (still).

The Franson app is a measily $9.95 to license, too! 8)

hi
I cant get garmin to connect to Vista - garmins USB - dont work with 32 Vista keeps asking for please insert disc that came with Garmin - bdont recognise USB connection then shuts down on the Garmin sayingyou have recoverd froma serious error
