You need the xImage program, download from the site below:

Dougconran wrote this guid

1. Connect i3 to PC using USB cable
2. Start xImage
3. Wait until device is found then click Next
4. Select 'Send Images to GPS' then click Next
5. Ensure Image Type is Splash Screen & click Next
6. Browse to folder containing image called 'Splash Screen.bmp' (it must be exactly that) and click OK
7. Screen is uploaded to i3 with progress being shown by blue progress bar
8. Ignore error message and click OK
9. Close xImage
10. Re-boot i3

Also make sure you save the original splashscreen first or your new one will overwrite it.

The size of the screen should be as follows:

220 pixels x 176 pixels with 72 pixels /inch giving you a size of 7.76 cm x 6. 21cm & saved in 24 bit.

Anypaint program will size your picture to the above.

Doh! Guid should have read Guide, wish we could edit our threads!

Just about any paint program will work, I use Adobe Photoshop myself but you can use Adobe Photoshop Elements,Corel paintshop pro ,etc.

A spash Screen is the start up screen on the i3, the picture is of the garmin i3 symbol on a blue background. You can now change that picture to one of your own using xImageprogram.

Is the xImage program/splash screen changing facility compatible with the streetpilot c320? I would rather check this first before possibly causing my unit to malfunction! Thanks Wink

Apologies for the triple posting in a row here! I successfully resized some pictures using Corel Photo Editor, very easy to upload to the gps unit with the aid of the xImage program, I'm amazed at what you can do when you know how! Wink

Well I did! but being silly I erased it from my PC. Can anyone supply the original splash screen so I can reload to my (about to be sold) i3.

Thanks
