May not be the way you are trying to do this, but you can open up the contacts.txt using notepad on your PC, edit & save, then copy back to your Tomtom.
Make sure you get all the " " , " " in the correct places.
"Spark1e","01234567890"
"Spark1e Mobile","07777111222"
Also check that you have not got two contacts lists on your Tomtom - if you have upgraded from V5 to V6 you might have.
In V5 the documents named - contacts, called & callers are all in the root directory.
In V6 they are all in a FOLDER named contacts.
[EDIT] - have just re-read your posts, so delete the 3 documents in the root directory, then you can edit the ones in the folder named contacts. |

Cheers Spark1e. We can edit the phone book fine as it is, but want to be able to do this without the PC, whilst out and about.
