I have used WiRED's speed camera data-base before on my IQue & 2610 both running Mapsource navigator v7, I found the data overwhelming as it included mobile sites, and I only wanted the fixed camera sites + red-light cameras. As a trucker I also wanted to include a low-bridge data base, so I wrote a converter in C++ to convert *.csv or *.asc files to *.mp format. I can then use the excellent shareware program cgpsmapper to import ANY converted data to my units. I now have visual representation as an overlay. To get audible alerts I use the same data imported/converted previously using birdwatch & wayque as the alert software.

I've just bought a Garmin nüvi 360 (which is fab, by the way) and would like to install the speed camera POIs, but could someone please tell me if this software will alert me to a nearby speed camera, either by speech or audible alarm, or do I need to keep an eye on the the screen to see if there's a symbol coming up?

I have an IQue3600. I have loaded camera details and they show up in my address book. How can I get them to give me allerts please? All I seem to be able to do is see them on the display as waypoints.

I have downloaded the GPRS overlay onto my PC and then onto my Quest 1. I cannot see the cameras on the Quest although it shows City Navigator Europe 8 and Euro Poc ticked in the MapSource info page. It also shows PGPSW Uk, UK Europe ticked when I select Euro Poc.

I have tried using various viewing scales and purposely ridden by cameras to see if they are shown, but to no avail.

I have asked this on another page but didn't get a reply so it might have been the wrong page.

I am still very new to using the kit, so any advice gratefully received.

Quite often they are Navaid icons on the Garmin units.
Set them up as Navaids in the options not waypoints or POI!!!!!!!!! :D

Let me know if that solves it!

Thanks for taking the time to answer Strumble.

I cannot find the options that you suggest on the machine.

Reading the advice on the forum about how these GPRS maps work, it seems that once loaded from the PC with the Garmin maps they are 'transparent' maps that should be visible with the Garmin maps showing through-therefore I should (I think) be able to see both.

I can only see the Garmin map without any cameras. The map info on the kit shows that the relevant GPRS map is loaded.

Hi paynes1,

I'm looking at the Quest manual at the moment, page 35. Have a look at the Point Tab in Map Setup. It looks like it is possible to turn on/off the display of POIs using the 'Hide Above' setting. If that's set to Off, POIs will never display. Also, look at the Map Tab, and make sure that the Detail level isn't set too low. If you don't see the POIs when its set to Normal, try upping it to High (or whatever the higher settings are - manual doesn't say).

There are usually settings like the above on most Garmin units, and they often cause this sort of problem with the overlay.
