How good are the T1 TMc units for the navman??? Are they worth the money? Is it an essential peice of kit???

Any RDS-TMC receiver for use in the UK tends to be a postcode lottery in terms of reception, that said I have been trying a T1 out for the last week with quite impressive results. It certainly works in areas of poor reception, where other similar devices cannot cope (even though they were using the same iTIS information and Classic FM as the transmission frequency).
The big plus point with the Navman unit is the ability to connect an external aerial (or connection to the radio aerial via a splitter) to improve reception.

Assuming it works and receives data the next issue is the actual data, whilst this is improving it still has some distance to cover before I would trust it on its own, when it works it is very good - worth trying but don't set you sights too high for performance to be honest (this applies to all RDS TMC sat nav add ons at the moment) - If you mention where you live by town/ city and where you normally travel I am sure others will chime in with their experiences
