Nuvi 310 POIs vs i3 POIs

Hi,

I have just got a new Nuvi 310 and loaded the speed cam database. (also updated to firmware 3.60)

I have noticed that the 310 appears to show the POI icons on screen constantly, wheras my old i3 only displayed them if overspeed. I could of course change the settings using camera manager etc.

Can the Nuvi be set like the i3??

I also feel the i3 seemed to start the constant overspeed 'bong' slightly earlier than the Nuvi.

Some reports on this site report that the camera manager software is crashing some Nuvi's.. it was brilliant on the i3..should I beware??

Any comments appreciated.

garmin changed the firmware so any poi's with proximity alerts (eg speed cams) were always shown on screen. i don't think there is a way to change this.

i've not had any problems using the camera manager software on either the nuvi or the i3 - only thing you need to look out for is that if you convert the files to gpx then it may take ages to load to th nuvi and windows will tell you the program is not responding - ignore it and be patient, it just takes a while!

also, don't load more that about 250 different poi files else it'll kill it (or about 80 on the i3)
