Hi, I bought an Intemop Buddy GPS for my daughter last christmas and she has asked me if it is possible to load a speed camera database on it. It uses Destinator ver 5.5 software. Can anyone advise me if this can be done. I have already contacted Intempo bur they have not been very helpful.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Welcome,

The short answer is Yes - however, I am not familiar with your satnav.

I have had a look around and something that might help you with the installation is here http://all-info.mysite.orange.co.uk/page5.html.

I would read through the instructions first before downloading.

However, if you don't read the instructions and you just steam straight in - I am quite sure there will be lots of people only too happy to help if you get stuck.

Regards

John,

You are quite correct it happens to me when I click on the link. But, also the link address seems to change.

Open up another copy of explorer and paste the address into the address bar and then click go. It seems to work that way.

But if it doesn't - here is the text from that page.

Thanks to whoever put this info together.

Is it possible to use the Speed Camera database from PocketGPSworld
Yes it is possible

Please Note the first section applies to v5.1 if you are running v5.5 see the section at the bottom odf the page.

You get the speed camera data base from the pocketgps site

http://www.aviationgpsworld.com

Then for the GPS400 follow these simple (TIC) instructions

Have fun

A Guide to Installing Speed Cameras on Destinator ND

The following worked for me.

1. Download the Speed camera data base
2. Unzip All files
3. Copy all files from the csv files/destinator3 folder to a folder on your H/D

4. Listed below are the 5 Files you need

• pocketgps_uk_gatso.*
• pocketgps_uk_redlight.*
• pocketgps_uk_specs.*
• pocketgps_uk_mobile.*
• pocketgps_uk_temp.*

5. You will also need 2 BMP Files download them from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/moudym/DESTINATOR%20SPEED%20CAMERA%20PACKS/D3%20UK%20SPEED%20CAMERA/ or you can use the ones that are included with the Speed Camera files.

6. Next you will need sound files 5 different ones or 5 copies of the same file, you can use the 141.wav file from the above site

7. Next you need to re-name the speed camera files, an example is listed below

• Gatso_Camera_Ahead.csv
• Redlight_Camera_Ahead.csv
• Specs_Camera_Ahead.csv
• Mobile_Camera_Ahead.csv
• Temp_Camera_Ahead.csv

8. Next one of the BMP Files is of a Redlight Camera re-name that to

• Redlight_Camera_Ahead.bmp

9. Next make four copies of the oter BMP File and re name them

to

• Gatso_Camera_Ahead.BMP
• Specs_Camera_Ahead.BMP
• Mobile_Camera_Ahead.BMP
• Temp_Camera_Ahead.BMP

10. Next take your sound files and re-name them as follows . Note it is better if you use 5 different sounds or spoken commands

• Gatso_Camera_Ahead.WAV
• Redlight_Camera_Ahead.WAV
• Specs_Camera_Ahead.WAV
• Mobile_Camera_Ahead.WAV
• Temp_Camera_Ahead.WAV

11. Now all you have to do is install all the copied and re-named files. Start ActiveSync Then use explorer to copy the BMP files to the

DestinatorappsDestinatorCommonFavorites Folder on your device, Then copy the WAV Files into

DestinatorappsDestinatorCommonInterfaceVoiceAll Folder on your device.

Finally use Destinator Console to convert and install 5 Speed Camera CSV files onto your +device.

12. Now all you will need to do is start navigator then go to Favorites select each of the 5 speed camera categories and enable each one by clicking the eye to on. After this goto Tools Settings and set your warnings 800 first 400 second is a good starting point.

13. And that’s it all done. Now what will happen as you approach a speed camera the data base will not only play the appropriate sound or voice
but will also display the appropriate warning in the middle of the device screen? Instead of the usual Favorite Alert that it does by default

Hope the above has been of some help.

One last thing before you ask NO you cannot have different distance set for different categories.

Instructions for Version 5.5

Everything is basicaly the same as v5.1 exept

The Camera BMP files are installed in the following directory

DestinatorAppsDestinatorUserDataFavorites

The WAV files now have to be converted to SPX files.

You can use speexdrop found here

http:\www.rarewares.orgfilesothersspeexdropV0.0.8-1.0.5.zip

or any other audio utility that suppors SPX Conversion I used Easy Audio Converter.

The new SPX files are copied to

DestinatorAppsDestinatorVoiceAll

The Speed Camera CSV files are converted and installed with Console as before.

Hope this has been of some help

Absolutely brilliant. Many many thanks. Only 1 small problem though. Again the link for the 141.wav does not seem to work. I have tried your suggestion but all I get is the page is no longer available. Any chance anyone could mail it to me: johnprosser@btconnect.com.

Many thanks,

John,

You are right about the link - sorry again.

There is a separate part of this forum for destinator software - have a look through there for your sound files and other tips, hints etc. Also, you could post a question there. Or a moderator might re-locate this post??

I have googled for 141.wav and a few files come up but I am uncertain what the 141 contains precisely and it could be that there is more than one type of .wav file called 141. You might be able to record your own warning file.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards
