I have recently purchased TomTom 2 with a Toshiba E800 (BT) and a Fortuna BT Clip On GPS.

The Toshiba E800 shipped with MS Pocket PC version 4.20.1081 build 13100 and Toshiba Blue Tooth Settings Version 4 for Pocket PC 2003 build 20031002.

The Toshiba Bluetooth software will allow a device search which correctly discovers the ClipOn-BT GPS unit. Unfortunately on activating the “update service” function the displays consistently shows “not connected” despite entering the recommended 0000 Bluetooth pass code. The device code shown is 00:0a:84:00:42:30.

I have however been able to connect the receiver to the Bluetooth management software on my Toshiba Protégé Tablet PC and have assigned the unit a COM port (com8, the next available port) using the COM port wizard.

Does anyone know of a way of emulating Pocket PC 2003 to run Tom Tom2 from my laptop using the newly created and connect Bluetooth GPS device using the tablet PC’s Bluetooth management software.

My theory being that if I can demonstrate that Pocket PC 2003 and TomTom can run via the emulation, the fault in connection on the e800 must be connected to the new Toshiba Blue Tooth management software (Version 4 for Pocket PC 2003 builds 20031002).

Thoughts, comments or help in resolving either of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

If you have the Microsoft embedded tools like Embedded Visual C++ you could try to use the PocketPC emulator device. However, it will be very tricky to install TomTom on the emulator, and to then get BT running from the emulator through the Desktop/Tablet

Rather look at using Routis - that one has both Pocket PC and PC applications. The UK version comes under the Socket name.
