Does anyone know how to get these to avoid unclassified roads?

Took the 670 for is first full run and let it lead the way. Settings were for Car and we asked for the fastest route. Started from Swindon and went to Leintwardine. Thought we were onto a winner going via the M5 and then off at Junct 6. However we were soon to be on single track roads, that had grass growing down the middle. When we arrived and spoke to our friends they laughed, the route isnt even one the locals take.

Got home, set the route again but this time the setting was for a BUS and then again a TRUCK. The truck went a slightly different route, the BUS went the same route.

I also learnt that you have the option to set a "via" way point once the route is set.. bit late now Embarassed But still wondering how to avoid this problem as the confidence in the device has taken a battering.

If the route is set to Shortest, then we did avoid unclassified roads, however thats not to say it wont send us down any.

Any advice and tips would be great.

Roy

there is an option to avoid unmade roads on most other garmin units id try to use this

also there is a problem with uk mapping from navteq and teleatlas as in the uk many unclassified roads have a speed limit of 60mph so the routing algorythym will use these roads which is why checking your route is important and even more important if your in a large veihcle

The 670 has the option to avoid "Unpaved Roads" which is set by default. Thanks for the response and yes, in future I shall set the route and follow it through before leaving.
